You will learn the fundamental models, methods and artifacts that support effective project management. Topics include project initiation, planning, controlling, implementing and closing. You will examine the role of the project manager with respect to leadership, team and stakeholder communications; common project management terminology; and how to apply principles to guide the behaviours that drive value for projects, products and portfolios in the workplace. |
Project Planning and Scheduling (Prerequisite)1.3 CEU |
This course provides participants with practices and techniques to coordinate project elements effectively and ensure that your project includes all critical stages and resources. You will cover project initiation, scope planning, project plan development and execution, scheduling development, monitoring and control, as well as project change control. |
Project Risk and Uncertainty Management (Required)1.3 CEU |
The failure of project managers to assess project risks has been a major cause of project failures. In this course, participants learn to identify, analyze and mitigate project risks, as well as implement and communicate a risk management plan to clients and management. Participants will explore best practices in innovative risk reduction from various industries. |
Stakeholder, Team and Communication Management (Required)1.3 CEU |
This course is designed to teach you how to embed the 12 Project Management Principles into all aspects of your approach. You will learn methods to develop an effective and cohesive project team through improved leadership, team building and communication skills in an environment that fosters team cooperation. Participants learn models that drive value and practice proven leadership, motivational and conflict resolution techniques to help them realize the most from the team and stakeholders. |

This course covers the process required to ensure that the project will satisfy the needs for which the project was undertaken. Participants will learn quality planning, quality assurance and quality control. |

This course deals with the fundamentals of resource planning and includes cost and procurement activities related to the defining, sequencing and duration estimation of activities, and resources and related cost estimation, cost management and control. You will learn how to use effective tools to ensure the project is completed on schedule and within budget. The course will use case studies, hands-on exercises and problem analysis to simulate the preparation of the project plan. |
Project Management Practicum (Required and Taken Last)1.3 CEU |
This course takes participants through the entire lifecycle of a project using the initiating, planning, implementing, controlling and closeout phases of project management. Students will be given a case study, employing the knowledge gained from previous courses. Participants will go through the exercise of meeting deliverables with tight deadlines, dealing with group development issues, managing conflict and meeting customer expectations. |
